Wet!

Last night was very wet and windy. Nevertheless I still went out for my run; I got very, very wet, but strangely I really enjoyed battling against the elements. And I even set a new average speed record!

Tennis

So far so good with my running.  I went for a walk/run monday, but it was soooo cold, so I guess that helped me to move quickly!  And last night I 'played' tennis; really enjoyed it.

On the down side I woke up this mrning to the back windscreen on the car being smashed. Grrrrr!

Long time

Despite my best intentions, I haven't posted here for over two years; I'm not very good at this blogging thing.  I've also let running slip; I've not run for ages an ages.  But I'm determined to start again, an I'm planning on going for a 'run' tonight (probably be more of a walk!)

On the up side, I've only got five weeks of being  a teacher now!  I've been teaching for two years (probably why I've let this blog and running slip) and I hate it.  In January I'm starting a PhD and I can't wait!!!

Swimming

On Tuesday I went swimming; I haven't been for ages, and I'm a rubbish swimmer! But I find it sooo relaxing. I tried breaststroke, but I always find that my arms seem to be doing all the work as they ache really quickly. I guess I just need regular practice.

Wednesday I went for my normal half hour run. I did this marked trail in the wood, but I think the distance they've worked out is wrong, so I couldn't work out my mile pace. I might have to do some road running tomorrow to find that out.

Beer festival

Since I've been running regularly I've lost about 5 pounds, an today I've probably undone all that good by going to a local beer festival. It was good though!

I've missed having a run today, even though I've only been going every other day. I think I'll go for a short run tomorrow, even though I haven't planned to.

Shoes

A couple of days ago I went to get some running shoes; I've been running in my old trainers that I've had for ages and thought I needed some new ones. The guy in the shop got me to have an 'electronic gait analysis', which consisted of me jogging on a machine and my feet being videoed. It was actually quite good, and showed that I 'over pronate', so I was able to get some shoes to compensate.

Forest

Yesterday I went for my run in a wood near home; I've never been to it before, crazy really. It was such a great day, nice and sunny. I ran quite well and I think I was running a bit faster than I was last week, but I'm not sure as I still haven't got a pedometer. I'm gonna go and run there tomorrow again, and I'm tempted to take my camera an take a few pics on the run!

Running

Last week I started to run. I've always fancied the idea of becoming a 'runner', and in the past I've made it out of the door a few times to go for a run, but I've always let it slip because its been such hard work. However I read somewhere that I was probably trying to run too fast, and so I've slowed the pace down a bit and it's much better! This week I've run twice so far, each time for half an hour, without stopping. Amazing!

I've been reading this runners blog for a while, interesting stuff. I don't know any other runners so it's good to read a runners blog.

My running goal is to run a half-marathon in September. So that should keep me motivated!

Long time

I can't believe that it's just over a year since I last posted anything on here. It's so easy not to. If I was into New Year resolutions I'd make one to regularly post to my blog; but I'm not, so I won't.
